New Work … Jan 2024

The summer sunshine combined with some holiday time, inspired several new pieces of work with a refreshed colour palette. Three small pieces titled ‘Soul Images 1, 2 and 3’ were initially painted to sell individually and came about as I reflected on a quote by Aristotle, “The soul never thinks without an image”. Whilst I was photographing the work, Shari (my partner) put them together as a triptych and then started to laugh. These were serious pieces of work and I did ask, what she thought was so funny. She pointed out that two of the birds were heading in the same direction and the other was going the opposite way. She loved the message in that!

A concrete lesson in my belief that your connection with a piece of artwork is unique to you, and must be respected. Art does not need words.
