Work: Celebrating Summer - The first Strawberry

At Deluka Cafe

    • “I created the original painting on canvas (acrylics, oils & Mixed media) in 2024.

    • Recently l wanted to get back to basics, use pencils, pen & ink & washes, watercolour paints on paper.

    • From these drafts l then scanned the work and was able to make changes by cleaning up my mistakes and resize the artwork and incorporate multi-media techniques in my art process.

    • As you might know music is a big influence in my life and in my art . . . the shape of sound, the notes in a song can make you feel different - music has always been blended in the recording studio - this can happen when you use a pencil or brush strokes or apply gold leaf to a canvas and blend it into a digital process.

  • All the digital works are on 200gsm, with gold leaf/acrylics on watercolour paper.

    Original drafts were pencil & coloured pencils, pen & ink, charcoal, watercolour, oils & acrylics.

At Deluka Cafe

    • “I created the original painting on canvas (acrylics, oils & Mixed media) in 2020.

    • Recently l wanted to get back to basics, after researching ‘Street Art’, it’s roots came from graffiti. l turned to art tools like pencils, pen & ink & washes, watercolour paints on paper.

    • From these drafts l then scanned the work and was able to make changes by cleaning up my mistakes and resize the artwork. My process now involves multi-media techniques in my art process.

    • Recreating these works in different mediums has given the work a new purpose.

    • True strength is built in silence

At Deluka Cafe

    • “I did the original painting on canvas in 2023, of some musicians who inspired me on my life journey. There are many more which may come out on my artistic journey.

    • Their music was an influence on my life, a force that gave me strength to pursue this life of mine. l was in a band in London and when AC/DC came to London, we were the band that supported them at the famous ‘Marquee Club’. ln 1978 our band was in the rehearsal studio next door to ‘The Police’ making their first album ‘Outlandos d’Amour’, and art school l played footie with Bob Marley - music does run through my veins.

    • Songs played during creating these new works:

      David Bowie - l can’t give everything away

      Johnny Cash - Hurt

      George Michael - Jesus to a child

      Amy Winehouse - Tears dry on their own

      Jimi Hendrix - Little Wing

    • ln this new series of works: After researching ‘Street Art’ and it’s roots in graffiti, l went back to basics, to use pencils, pen & ink & washes, gouache, watercolour paints on paper.

    • From these drafts l then scanned the work and was able to make changes by cleaning up my mistakes and resize the artwork. l experimented with new technologies like Ai as in this artwork number 14.

  • All the digital works are on 150gsm, with gold leaf/gold paint on watercolour paper.

    • “I created the original painting on canvas (acrylics, oils & Mixed media) in 2020/21.

    • After researching ‘Street Art’ it’s roots came from graffiti and the comic book industry, l turned to art tools like graphite pencils, pen & ink & washes, gouache, watercolour paints on paper.

    • From these drafts l then scanned the work and was able to make changes by cleaning up my mistakes and resize the artwork and include new technologies like Ai and digital manipulation, in a process l call ‘multi-media artistry.

    • l read a recent article by an artist “Ai Weiwei” he mentions that - “90% of art is just garbage”.

    • So let me introduce you to this work on display. Again this work was originally painted and created by me in 2020/21 as a montage of religious images on canvas whilst going through Covid, a time of contemplation for all . . .

    • image 16 Why is the original “Creation of Adam” painting controversial? It humanised Depiction of God: Portraying God as an elderly, bearded man in physical form challenged strict traditional views that viewed the divine as purely formless and transcendent.

    • 15 The Gap Between Fingers: The slight separation between God’s finger and Adam’s finger has sparked debate: some view it as a symbol of free will and the space between humanity and the divine, while critics argue it overly distances man from active communication with God.

    • 15 The fresco painting by Italian artist ‘Michelangelo’ (1508-1512) illustrates the biblical creation in which God gives life to Adam. It is one of the most replicated religious paintings of all time.

    • For me art is there to make us think, question and debate, has good art been around for so long?, Was 90% of art in the 1500’s just garbage too?

At Deluka Cafe

    • “I created the original painting from a dream - the subject being ‘the death of my father’ the painting was created 7 years ago and he actually died over 11 years now. l still have the painting today, l have exhibited it several times but never wanted. to sell it.

    • This new series is very exiting: l have enjoyed this journey with a new approach, l believe death is not an ending but a new beginning, we just need to adjust to the changes and it takes time. This creative process was like observing the marks l was making on paper and asking questions in my mind, like having a conversation with my father. l found this journey uplifting, energising and l reached a very rewardiing series of works that l am happy with.

    • l created the original painting on canvas (acrylics, oils & mixed media, gold leaf/copper leaf) in 2021. After researching ‘Street Art’ it’s roots in graffiti and the comic book industry, l went back to basics, to use pencils, pen & ink & washes, gouache, watercolour paints on paper.

    • From these drafts l then scanned the work and was able by cleaning up my mistakes and resize the artworks, my process now involves new technologies like Ai on some work and digital manipulation, in a process which l call ‘multi-media artistry.
